Geoff Hampton

Geoff Hampton has been involved in the Wellness/Fitness Industry since 1979 when he worked the front desk for a large racquetball club and served as a trainer for a fitness center.  He attended the University of Tennessee as a Physical Fitness major and was a member of the Varsity Wrestling Team   His vision and skills were recognized by IHRSA in 1984 when he was billed as, “One the most creative and far-thinking individuals in our industry” prior to a conference he spoke at in Cincinnati, OH.  Even today he is constantly searching for ways to improve our business through dynamic and original initiatives.  His skills were enhanced greatly after spending time working for The Anthony Robbins Companies in San Diego, CA. 

Geoff spent ten years working with the Lehigh Valley Racquet & Fitness Centers in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley.  During that time he served in various capacities ranging from consultant to Vice-President of Sales.  Additionally, his career has included consulting contracts with elite clubs such as Cedardale (Haverhill, MA), The Bel Air Athletic Club (Bel Air, MD), The Racquetworld Clubs (Denver, CO – now called Colorado Athletic Clubs), McLean Racquet & Health Club (McLean, VA), St. Mary’s Health & Fitness Center (Knoxville, TN), PureFitness Clubs (San Diego, CA) and others.

As an author (more than 100 columns in print), his first column was published by IHRSA in April of 1983 and was entitled, “Secrets of Membership Sales.”  Geoff has also been featured in magazines and publications such as:  Fitness Management magazine, CBI magazine, Club Business magazine, Club Industry magazine, Club Management magazine, World Gym magazine, San Diego Eldercare, Skylands magazine, Knoxville ElderCare, Peak Performance and others.  His unique community wellness initiatives have been featured on television and in newspapers from around the country.

He has presented around the world at dynamic programs including: IHRSA National & Regional Conferences (International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association) – Las Vegas, NV, Reno, NV, San Diego, CA, Nashville, TN, Dallas, TX, New Orleans, LA; Club Industry (’86, ’87, ’88 and ’89) – Chicago, IL; Bodylife International – London, Ontario; Club Industry East – New York, NY, World Gym International – Las Vegas, NV; The Arnold Classic – Columbus, OH; Club Direct ’91 – Toronto, CA; Club Direct ’92 – Toronto, CA, San Diego Association of Quality Clubs – San Diego, CA; Independent Florida Club Owners Association – Boca Raton, FL; Racquetball Manufacturers Association – Dallas, TX; Gold’s Gym (San Diego, CA); MACMA (Mid Atlantic Club Owners Association) – McLean, VA, Washington, DC, Chalfont, PA, Reston, VA; NYMCA (New York Metropolitan Club Owners Association) – New York, NY, Bridgeport, CT; NEHRSA (New England Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association) – Boston, MA, Benelux Association of Quality Clubs (Belgium) – Antwerp, Belgium; National Fitness Trade Show – Las Vegas, NV and others 

He has authored online management and wellness columns for websites such as: www.fitnessmanagement.com  (Library of articles), www.fitcommerce.com (Columns section), www.worldgym.com  and www.turtletrack.org.

Geoff has a passion for helping the youth of our Nation and has worked with The Boy’s & Girl’s Clubs in San Diego, CA and Knoxville, TN.  He is currently working with The Boy’s & Girl’s Clubs of The Tennessee Valley helping implement a program that is Co-Sponsored by The Tennessee Department of Health called “Commit to be FIT.”  One of his published which addresses the National crisis of overweight in our youth is entitled, “Childhood Obesity and Related Ills.”
